The Letter that started it all......

Tell me what you like about Pike County, Georgia! Let's tell everyone!

I live in the best part of the biggest state east of the Mississippi river in the most generous and best country in the world. I really like my home and my neighbors. This blog celebrates that fact!

Today, I am 60.

The funny thing is, I don't know how I am supposed to feel.  I mean, I feel great! No different than when I walked across the stage to be commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy, just after walking across the stage to get my diploma at Oregon State University, or a few years later when I got that letter from Delta Airlines telling me I'd been hired as a pilot (now that was a celebratory occasion!). No different from when my children were born in Jacksonville (Navy) and Marietta, GA (Delta) or when I was made the Commanding Officer at VA-205 in Marietta, Naval Air Station Atlanta, or when I qualified as a Captain at Delta or flew my first International Captain Flight.  I don't feel any different than when I ran my first marathon (hum, maybe a little bit different there..) or did my first Half-Ironman Triathlon, or rode my first Century Road Race.  I guess it's good that I don't feel any different, but I know things are different- aches and pains where I never had any before.  And, I'm a LOT more tolerant of some things and very intolerant of other stuff.  Mostly, I think the word I am looking for is a small and minor type of wisdom has overcome me.  What's next?
