The Chamber hosted a Summit for Pike County today. It was held at Life Springs Church in their auditorium. Over 100 leaders of the the community and surrounding counties attended! One fact I took away from the meeting was that economic well-being is DIRECTLY tied to education. That is true for counties as well as families. For example, in Georgia the unemployment rate is over 10%. For those with some, or any, education past high school, the rate is 4%. For high school grads, the rate is also less than 10% . Don't let anyone tell you that finishing high school is not important! It will affect you for the rest of your life! You may have heard it so much you don't really hear it anymore- STAY IN SCHOOL! Finish up and keep moving, keep learning. There are other extremely important things you can do to make a better future for yourself and will be a subject of future posts.....
The Letter that started it all......
Tell me what you like about Pike County, Georgia! Let's tell everyone!
I live in the best part of the biggest state east of the Mississippi river in the most generous and best country in the world. I really like my home and my neighbors. This blog celebrates that fact!
