The Letter that started it all......

Tell me what you like about Pike County, Georgia! Let's tell everyone!

I live in the best part of the biggest state east of the Mississippi river in the most generous and best country in the world. I really like my home and my neighbors. This blog celebrates that fact!

THANK YOU, CITIZENS OF PIKE COUNTY!!!!

The SPLOST passed by a large margin in our county this last Tuesday!  It passed because citizens like you took the time to research the issues, talk to your elected representatives, look past the negative advertising and, most importantly, you took the time to VOTE!  I am so proud of our county!  I admit that after all the negative talk, personal attacks and money spent to stop the SPLOST, I was very surprised to see the victory.  A special thanks goes to Joy Walker and Doug Rounds, who spearheaded the effort to make the vote successful.  They endured some petty, mudslinging attacks in the paper and also anonymous phone calls (perhaps even stalking).  They persevered and did the right thing with an upright, honest, open effort and our county will be the better for it.   Like my father would say, "You did a good thing, here, today!"
